Saturday pressure woes was due to a water main leak at 623 N. Sykes

Sumner Newscow report — On Saturday morning, people on the west side of Wellington probably noticed a lack of water pressure.

That was due to a water main leak in the 623 N. Sykes area at 12:30 p.m.

According to Wellington City Manager Jeff Porter:

The break was severe enough that crews had to cut in a new section of pipe. Isolating the break to insert new pipe may have impacted the pressures experienced by customers. But it is necessary to ensure the safety of staff repairing the main.

He said it took 3.5 to four hours to section the pipe and get water restored.
