School threat at Wellington High School occurred last Friday

Sumner Newscow report — The following was sent by the Wellington school district:

“Today on January 26, the Wellington High School Administration was alerted to a Snapchat message that was sent last Friday, January 20 during the school day. The student who sent it last week was angry about an incident that happened at school that day.

The language used in the Snapchat message did mention harm to other students and language regarding a school shooting. The WHS Administration contacted the police and will continue to follow the district’s Threat Assessment Protocol.

The WHS Administration and Wellington Police Department have been investigating the situation and report that there is no danger to students at WHS. USD 353 wanted to make our community aware so you can have quality conversations with your children this evening. Thank you.”
