Shelly Hansel joins Harper County as Community Development Director

Sumner Newscow report – The Harper County Board of Commissioners is excited to announce it has hired Shelly Hansel as their Community Development Director.  Hansel brings her community leadership, media background, and government experience to her new position that was previously held by Melinda McCurley who now will be able to concentrate her duties as the assistant to the Board of County Commissioners.

Hansel worked for the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce for more than 12 years and completed her IOM (Institute of Organization Management) distinction with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  Hansel has also worked for the Kansas Leadership Center and will be starting a Harper County Leadership program this Fall.

Hansel currently has a radio show on US 107.9FM on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and has worked in television and radio for more than 20 years including KWCH-TV, KAKE-TV and KPNX-TV in Phoenix.

“I am very excited to be working for Harper County.  This County and our wonderful communities have so much to offer and there is tremendous potential here.  We just need people and businesses to discover us and that’s where I come in!!”
