South Central steamrolls Caldwell 52-6

Sumner Newscow report – South Central steamrolled Caldwell 52-6 Friday night in Caldwell. South Central scored twice in the first quarter, and converted two-point tries, took a 16-0 lead and never looked back.

South Central got its first score on a 13-yard pass, and the second one was on a 45-yard run.

Caldwell got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter on a 16-yard pass from Caleb Noyes to Jude Stow. A two-point conversion failed, but the lead was trimmed to 16-6.

South Central scored three more times, an a 35-yard interception return, and two short passes, to take a 40-6 lead at halftime.

Even though the score was lopsided, the teams were not that far apart in offensive production. Caldwell had 200 yards of total offense and South Central had 258. Caldwell threw four interceptions, while South Central had just one turnover.

Noyes passed for 115 yards and one touchdown.  D. Volavka led the team with 34 yards rushing.

South Central completed 10 of 12 passes for 153 yards and four touchdowns.

South Central is now 6-0. The Timberwolves host Oxford next week and play at Argonia-Attica to end the regular season the following week. The Timberwolves are ranked No. 3 by K-preps.

Caldwell is now 4-2 and plays at Udall (2-4) next week. Caldwell finishes the regular season hosting Medicine Lodge (3-3) the following week.
