South Haven girls basketball coach dismissed for unprofessional conduct
Sumner Newscow report — The South Haven school board has dismissed Michael Heater, a teacher and the head girls basketball coach, for “unprofessional conduct by entering into inappropriate communications with a student in violation of Board student-staff relations.”
In a special meeting held on April 1, the board voted 7-0 to terminate Heater’s contract for the 2024-25 school year.
The board met in executive session for 20 minutes before making the motion.
Heater was the coach of the South Haven girls basketball team and helped lead the Cardinals to four consecutive state tournament berths.
