South Haven hires Zane Aguilar as its new principal for sixth – 12th grade
Sumner Newscow report — The USD 509 South Haven School school board has announced the selection of Zane Aguilar, as the 6-12 Principal for USD 509 for the 2023-2024 school year. His term will begin on August 1, 2023.
Aguilar has been in the district for one year as a physical education teacher and coach. Before coming to USD 509, Aguilar spent 13 years with USD 353 Wellington School District as a physical education teacher for elementary and high school students.
Aguilar also worked with students in a program called Fresh Start, designed to serve students pursuing an alternative path to graduation. Aguilar coached football, track and was an assistant coach for baseball at USD 353. He led the Wellington High School football program for five years from 2017-2021.
Aguilar is married to the former Liz Van Zant, a graduate of USD 509, and they have two children, Clara and Micah.
This marks the second Wellington High School graduate to be hired as an administrator at the South Haven school district. Daniel Farley was hired to be Superintendent in South Haven starting on July 1.
