South Haven senior Alivia Bacon is named the Big Cheese Athlete of the Week

Alivia Bacon ran for South Sumner in the regular season and South Haven in the postseason.

By Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — This week’s Big Cheese Athlete of the Week is Alivia Bacon, a senior for the South Haven girls cross country team.

Bacon has been a four-time state qualifier in cross country. During her freshman year, she finished 12th at the Class 1A state cross-country meet at the Sand Plumb Nature Trail in Victoria. In 2021, as a sophomore, she finished seventh in 1A at the state meet at Sand Plumb. In her junior year, she ran at the Wamego Country Club and placed 40th with a 23:16 time. Then, on Saturday, as a senior, Bacon placed 28th with a time of 21:54.40, helping lift her South Haven team to a fourth-place finish in Wamego.

It’s been a fun-filled four years Alivia. For her effort, she is a recipient of a large delicious Big Cheese Pizza at 324 N. Washington.
