South Haven’s Alivia Bacon, Caldwell’s Teagan Thompson named Big Cheese Athletes of the Week
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Big Cheese Athletes of the Week are a couple of Sumner County cross country team runners who did really well at the Class 1A state cross country meet.
Alivia Bacon, a sophomore for South Haven, finished seventh in the girls’ division at the state meet at Sand Plum Nature Trail in Victoria. Having run for Caldwell through the season because of a cooperative agreement, Bacon got to run for her home school during the regional and state. She did exceptionally well finishing with a 21:11.6 time for a 6:48.9 per mile average.
Teagan Thompson, a junior for Caldwell, placed 38th in the Class 1A boys division. Thompson ran with a time of 18.36.3 for a 5:58.9 per mile average.
For their effort, both Bacon and Thompson are recipients of large delicious Big Cheese Pizzas at 324 N. Washington.
