Stephen McCreary

Stephen Howard McCreary, of Wellington, died at his home on Monday, October 24, 2022, at the age of 69.

Stephen was born the son of Carl Virgil McCreary and Helen Francis  (Scheurich) McCreary on November 15, 1952, in Springfield, MO.

Stephen was a man of many talents, including playing pool, golf, and guitar. He had a particular fondness for the Grateful Dead and the “Dead Head” way of life. Stephen was always one for a good conspiracy theory and letting those close to him know to be prepared.  Anyone who knew him understood what a truly caring person he was and the great sense of humor he possessed.

Survivors include his children; Amanda McCreary of Wellington, KS; Rebecca Price of Wichita, KS and Matthew McCreary of Altoona, KS; grandchildren: Devyn Elkins of Wellington, KS; Syvanah Elkins (Cooper) of Caldwell, KS; Blake McCreary of Wellington, KS; Lucas Cook of Wichita, KS; Landyn Price of Wichita, KS; Kameron Price of Wichita, KS; Emma Price of Wichita, KS Ariana Price of Wichita, KS and Addysyn McCreary of Halstead, KS; great-grandchild: Espyn Bristor of Caldwell, KS; Siblings: Stephanie Thalmann (Lynn) of Cheney, KS; Lynette Riley (Randy) of St. Joseph, MO and Kelly Case (David) of McPherson, KS; Fiance: Tonya Acosta of Wellington, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Jackie McCreary.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2022, at the Cornejo Funeral Home, 1030 Mission Rd., Wellington, KS 67152

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are given to the Bryce Day Memorial Foundation, PO Box 102, Wellington, KS 67152. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
