October 14, 2019
The Board of County Commissioners did not meet in observance of Columbus Day.
October 15, 2019
The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission room of the Sumner County Courthouse. Those present were Chairman Jim D. Newell, Commissioner Steve Warner and Commissioner John Cooney. Also present was County Clerk Debra A. Norris and Economic Development Director Stacy Davis.
The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved minutes of October 7 and 8.
Director Davis provided personnel and other departmental updates to the Commission, including the decision to not utilize South Central Kansas Economic Development District SCKEDD organization. State Tourism conference, hosted by Sumner County, will be held at the Kansas Star Casino, October 21 thru 23.
Planning and Zoning Director Jon Bristor discussed Suppesville Sewer District issues. Funding is supplemented by the County per budget, if necessary. Director Bristor advised additional funding is requested as a break required immediate repair. After discussion, the Commission authorized the additional $900 needed for the repair.
County Counselor Jack Potucek provided general reviews and updates.
The Commission reviewed a letter of resignation from Don Clewell, serving as president of Fire District No. 9. A recommendation for Bill Taylor to serve as president and Tim McDonald as new member of the board was reviewed. After discussion, the Commission unanimously accepted the resignation and appointments as presented.
County Treasurer Dannetta Cook provided the amount distributed from the Kansas Star Casino as $135,953.62.
