Sumner County Commissioner Minutes: April 11 – April 12, 2022

April 11, 2022 – 9 a.m.

The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission Room of the Sumner County Courthouse.  Those present were Chairman Steve Warner, Commissioner Jim Newell and Commissioner John Cooney.  Also present was County Clerk Debra A. Norris.

The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved the minutes of April 4 and 5.

At 10:11 a.m., upon unanimous vote, the Commission entered into an executive session for 10 minutes with County Counselor Jack Potucek for an attorney/client privileged matter.  At 10:21 a.m., the Commission reconvened in an open session.  Chairman Warner advised no binding action was taken as a result of the executive session.

Jean Brown, Sumner Mental Health Chief Executive Officer, provided the Commission with the departmental annual report.  Other departmental updates were also provided.

County Counselor Jack Potucek provided general reviews and updates.

County Treasurer Dannetta Cook provided the amount distributed from the Kansas Star Casino as $147,909.97.

There being no further business, the Board of County Commissioners adjourned at 11:10 a.m.

April 12, 2022 – 9 a.m.

The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission room of the Sumner County Courthouse.  Those present were Chairman Steve Warner, Commissioner Jim Newell and Commissioner John Cooney.   Also present was County Clerk Debra Norris.

Maintenance Director Joe Struble and Assistant Director Jimmy Thornton provided updates on the Raymond Frye Complex roof.  Additional departmental updates were also discussed.

Community Corrections Director Brad Macy discussed the 2023 grants for the department.  After discussion, Chairman Warner was authorized to sign the Adult and Juvenile Comprehensive Plan.

Information Technology Director Joe Buresh discussed departmental issues with the Commission.

County Counselor Jack Potucek provided general reviews and updates.

The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved current year abatement orders in the amount of $173.00. Prior year abatements were also approved in the amount of $346.86.

The Commission reviewed and approved mid-month payables in the amount of $463,189.43.

There being no further business, the Board of County Commissioners adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
