Sumner County Commissioner Minutes: June 20 and June 21, 2022
Sumner Newscow report — The following is the Sumner County Commissioner notes for June 20 and June 21, 2022:
June 20, 2022 – 9 a.m.
The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission room of the Sumner County Courthouse. Those present were Chairman Steve Warner, Commissioner Jim Newell and Commissioner John Cooney. Also present was County Clerk Debra A. Norris.
The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved minutes of June 13 and 14.
County Treasurer Dannetta Cook provided the amount distributed from the Kansas Star Casino in the amount of $140,755.37 for the month of June.
Planning and Zoning Director Jon Bristor provided project updates to the Commission, including Suppesville Sewer District and wind farms.
County Counselor Jack Potucek provided general reviews and updates.
There being no further business, the Board of County Commissioners adjourned at 10:32 a.m.

June 21, 2022 – 9 a.m.
The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission room of the Sumner County Courthouse. Those present were Chairman Steve Warner, Commissioner John Cooney and Commissioner Jim Newell. Also present was County Clerk Debra A. Norris.
Financial Advisor Elliott Jackson discussed 2023 budget preparation with the Commission. County Appraiser Cindy Magill was also present. Several topics were discussed in accordance with the requests made.
Maintenance Director Joe Struble and Assistant Maintenance Director Jimmy Thornton provided departmental updates with the Commission. Discussion included roofs at the Raymond Frye Complex and Santa Fe buildings.
County Counselor Jack Potucek provided general reviews and updates.
The Commission reviewed the mileage rate for personal vehicles used for county business. The state increase to .625 was approved with no mileage reimbursement available for in-town driving, with the exception of Information Technology Department.
There being no further business, the Board of County Commissioners adjourned at 11:59 a.m.
