Sumner County Commissioner minutes: Nov. 4 and Nov. 5, 2019

Sumner Newscow report — The Sumner County Commissioner minutes for Nov. 4 and Nov. 5:

November 4, 2019  9:00 a.m.

The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission Room of the Sumner County Courthouse.  Those present were Chairman Jim D. Newell, Commissioner Steve Warner and Commissioner John Cooney.  Also present were County Clerk Debra A. Norris and 80th House Representative Bill Rhiley.  

The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved the minutes of October 28 and 29.

County Treasurer Dannetta Cook provided the Commission with updates on sales tax received for Sumner County.  Other departmental updates were also discussed.

Information Technology Director Joe Buresh provided updates on the courthouse security system and other departmental issues to the Commission.

County Counselor Jack Potucek provided general reviews and updates.

The Commission reviewed and approved mid-month payables for January in the amount of $710.91.

There being no further business, the Board of County Commissioners adjourned at 10:20 a.m.

November 5, 2019  9:00 a.m.

The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission room of the Sumner County Courthouse.  Those present were Chairman Jim D. Newell, Commissioner Steve Warner and Commissioner John Cooney.  Also present was County Clerk Debra A. Norris.

Liberty National representative Joshua Weekly discussed voluntary benefits with the Commission.  After review, the Commission advised a vendor is already in place to serve the employees.

At 9:49 a.m., upon unanimous vote the Commission entered into executive session for 10 minutes with County Counselor Jack Potucek for an attorney/client privileged matter.  Clerk Norris was also present.  At 9:59 a.m., the Commission reconvened in open session.  No binding action was taken as a result of the executive session.

Maintenance Director Joe Struble and Assistant Director Jimmy Thornton provided departmental updates to the Commission.  Counselor Potucek was also present.

County Treasurer Dannetta Cook provided the amount distributed from the Kansas Star Casino as $148,548.75.

There being no further business, the Board of County Commissioners adjourned at 10:43 a.m.
