Sumner County Commissioners meeting minutes: Jan. 31 – Feb. 1, 2022

Sumner Newscow report — The Sumner County Commissioners minutes for Jan. 31 and Feb. 1:

January 31, 2022 – 9 a.m.

The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission Room of the Sumner County Courthouse.  Those present were Chairman Steve Warner, Commissioner Jim Newell, and Commissioner John Cooney.  Also present was Deputy County Clerk Diana Aufdengarten.

The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved of the minutes of January 24 and 25.

The Commissioners requested County Treasurer Dannetta Cook to join the meeting for some additional information about a transfer request from a county department. 

At 9:26 a.m., upon unanimous vote, the Commission entered into executive session for 15 minutes with Economic Development Director Stacy Davis to discuss trade secrets of corporations, partnerships, trusts, and individual proprietorships.  Deputy Clerk Aufdengarten was also present.  At 9:41 a.m. the Commission reconvened in an open session.  No binding action was taken as a result of the executive session.

Counselor Potucek provided general reviews and updates.

Dave Hickman, Health Insurance Cooperative Agency, presented the Commission with a 2021 first quarter rebate check, from USRx, in the amount of $9,693.52.  A general plan discussion was also held.

The Commission reviewed mileage for 2022.  After discussion, the Commission unanimously adopted the federal rate of 58.5 cents per mile.

The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved prior-year abatement orders in the amount of $1,618.84.

The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved current year abatement orders in the amount of $18,834.55.

February 1, 2022 – 9 a.m.

The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the Commission Room of the Sumner County Courthouse.  Those present were Chairman Steve Warner, Commissioner John Cooney and Commissioner Jim Newell.  Also present was County Clerk Debra Norris.

County Treasurer Dannetta Cook discussed equipment reserves and capital improvement funding.  Statutes, policies, and procedures were also reviewed.

Dan Fitts discussed the county mill levy with the Commission.  Discussion included the various taxing entities involved in creating the mill levy.

County Counselor Jack Potucek provided general reviews and updates.

At 11:14 a.m., upon unanimous vote, the Commission entered into executive session for 10 minutes with Counselor Potucek for an attorney/client privileged matter.  At 11:24 a.m., the Commission reconvened in an open session.  Chairman Warner advised no binding action as the result of the executive session.

The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved payables in the amount of $132,536.95.

The Commission reviewed and unanimously approved current year abatement orders in the amount of $1,164.30.

The Commission reviewed the annual inventory report.

There being no further business, the Board of County Commissioners adjourned at 11:35 a.m.
