Sumner County Court Docket: Dec. 2, 2016 report

These are formal charges introduced into the Sumner County District Court system. The suspects listed in the complaint have not been tried by a judge or jury unless specified otherwise. All citizens are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

State of Kansas v. Justin Morris — Case No: 16 CR 319

Date of birth: 1973. Address: Danville.

Date of alleged crime: June 23, 2016

Charges:

Count 1 — Burglary of vehicle, level 9 felony.

Count 2 — Theft, level 9 felony.

Case description: Morris is accused of entering a farm truck parked at 1500 E. 100th St. in Sumner County and stealing about $1,400 worth of items including a Hitachi Air Compressor with a homemade mount for a hose reel, blue Cobalt hose reel and black hose, DeWALT battery grease gun, tools and two manual grease guns.

State of Kansas v. Joseph Goings — Case No: 16 CR 323

Date of birth: 1980. Address: Wellington.

Date of alleged crime: August 24, 2016

Charges:

Count 1 — Criminal Threat, level 9 person felony.

Count 2 — Criminal deprivation of property, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 3 — Assault, Class C misdemeanor.

Count 4 — Harassment by telecommunication device, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 5 — Harassment by telecommunication device, Class A misdemeanor.

Case description: Goings is accused of threatening other people in various ways. He allegedly told a family member, during an argument about paying bills, that he was going to beat her if she said another word. Goings, who had lost his job according to the complaint, then allegedly took the alleged victim’s phone away in hopes of her not waking up to her alarm. He allegedly told her he hopes she would be late to work and lose her job.

Then, allegedly, Goings in the next six days threatened another family member not living with them with 30 adversarial text messages.

State of Kansas v. Paige Tucker — Case No: 16 CR 324

Date of birth: 1994. Address: Mulvane.

Date of alleged crime: Oct. 14, 2016

Charges:

Count 1 — Domestic battery, Class B misdemeanor.

Count 2 — Possession marijuana, Class B misdemeanor.

Count 3 — Possession drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 4 — Possession methamphetamine, level 5 drug paraphernalia.

Case description: Tucker is accused of cussing at a family member. Allegedly, after another family member told her to stop Tucker then slapped her and physically fought the person until her step father restrained her.

Allegedly, when apprehended, Tucker was then found with  a small container of marijuana inside a white handbag, as well as a marijuana pipe and two small baggies of methamphetamine.

State of Kansas v. Nicole Bowley — Case No: 16 CR 325

Date of alleged crime: Sept. 30, 2016

Charges:

Count 1 — Possession cocaine, level 5 drug felony.

Count 2 — Possession marijuana, Class B misdemeanor.

Count 3 — Possession drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor.

Case description: Bowley is accused of having a baggy containing cocaine pewter in a side pocket inside her purse inside a vehicle at the Kansas Star Casino.

State of Kansas v. Dustin Saffron — Case No: 16 CR 326

Date of birth: 1982. Address: Mulvane.

Date of alleged crime: Oct. 15, 2016

Charges:

Count 1 — Domestic battery, Class B misdemeanor.

Count 2 — Interference with law enforcement, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 3 — Criminal threat, level 9 felony.

Count 4 — Possession of firearm by convicted felony, level 8.

Case description: Saffron is accused of punching another person in the eye during an argument. After the police arrived, Saffron was told to come outside the house. He allegedly did so but was yelling profanities and threatening the police officers. He then allegedly refused to put his hands in the air when told to do so. He then allegedly yelled he was going to shoot all the cops before running back into the house. He also allegedly said the cops couldn’t shoot him because he was bullet proof.

Then, allegedly, he also had possession of a .22 caliber rifle hanging on the wall in his bedroom, when it was unlawful for him to do so because he was convicted of a drug felony in Sedgwick County in 2009.

State of Kansas v. Bret Alan Jackson — Case No: 16 CR 328

Date of alleged crime: Sept. 25, 2016

Charges:

Count 1 — Stopping on roadway, traffic infraction.

Count 2 — Driving under the influence, (5 previous convictions).

Count 3 — Driving while suspended or revoked, Class B misdemeanor.

Count 4 — Refusal of PBT, traffic infraction.

Case description: Jackson is accused of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and having a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more. He had five previous DUI convictions in Sedgwick County between Dec. 12, 2001 and May 6, 2015.

State of Kansas v. Charles Whalen, 3rd — Case No: 16 CR 329

Date of birth: 1978, Address: Derby. 

Date of alleged crime: Oct. 17, 2016.

Charges:

Count 1 — Driving under the influence, Class B misdemeanor. 

Count 2 — Failure to maintain single lane, traffic infraction.

Count 3 — Aggravated endangering a child, level 9 misdemeanor.

Case description: Whalen is charged with operating a 2002 Ford truck with an alcohol concentration of .223  before being involved in a roll-over accident on the turnpike at 8:35 p.m. on Oct. 17. He allegedly had two children, ages 10 and 8 with him, who were both injured in the accident. Whalen was at mile post 22 when he left his lane, overcorrected, and rolled over into the ditch where the pickup ended on its roof.

State of Kansas v. Derek Wilson — Case No: 16 CR 331

Date of alleged crime: Oct. 18, 2016.

Charges:

Count 1 — Possession of vehicle with destroyed VIN, Class C misdemeanor.

Count 2 — Possession of vehicle with destroyed VIN, Class C misdemeanor.

Count 3 — Theft, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 4 — Theft, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 5 — Destroying VIN# on vehicle, level 10 felony.

Count 6 — Destroying VIN# on vehicle, level 10 felony.

Case description: Wilson is accused of possessing a large trailer upon which the VIN plate had been removed and replaced with an American flag decal. He also allegedly had a VIN number grounded off and painted over with black paint of a Honda motorcycle. He also allegedly displayed a stolen trailer tag on a trailer he possessed in Oxford and stole DeWalt battery packs, saw blades, tool bag, cordless hammer drill and other items. He was also accused of destroying VIN numbers on a large black trailer and a red and white Honda CRF  100F motorcycle.

Charges:

Count 1 — Burglary of dwelling, level 7 felony.

Count 2 — Theft, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 3 — Theft, level 9 felony.

Case description: Morris is accused of stealing a Sotera chemical transfer pump out of the storage building at 1350 W. 160th St. in Caldwell and a John Deere 2630 tractor and John Deere 148 loader.

State of Kansas v. Stephen Parker — Case No: 16 CR 333

Date of birth: 1985, Address: Wichita.

Date of alleged crime: Oct. 17, 2016

Charges:

Count 1 — No tag light, infraction.

Count 2 — Driving while suspended, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 3 — Possession marijuana, Class B misdemeanor.

Count 4 — Possession drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor.

Case description: Parker is accused of leaving the Kansas Star Casino with a taillight out, no valid driver’s license, and having a marijuana blunt in the enter console of the vehicle that looked like a cigar.

Date of alleged crime: Oct. 19, 2016

Charges:

Count 1 — Burglary of dwelling, level 7 felony.

Count 2 — Theft, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 3 — Violation of protective order, Class A misdemeanor.

Case description: Ladzceno is accused of entering a residence at 881 E. 90th Belle Plaine to steal a washer and dryer and a mattress without the home owner’s permission.

State of Kansas v. Adam Osborn — Case No: 16 CR 338

Date of birth: 1965, Address: Oxford.

Date of alleged crime: Oct. 30, 2016

Charges:

Count 1 — Harassment by telecommunication device, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 2 — Aggravated assault, level 7 felony.

Count 3 — Battery, Class B misdemeanor.

Count 4 — Aggravated assault, level 7 felony.

Count 5 — Criminal threat, level 9 felony.

Count 6 — Criminal possession of weapon by convicted felony, level 8 felony.

Case description: Osborn is accused of using a cell phone to threaten another person several times. He then later allegedly pointed an apparent handgun at alleged victim and threatened to shoot him. It was later revealed that it was not a handgun, but a BB gun. He also physically fought with the person and then called him up later and said he was coming over to continue the fight the next day. Osborn had a previous conviction of aggravated battery in Sedgwick County which makes it illegal for him to not have a weapon.

State of Kansas v. Samantha Mount — Case No: 16 CR 340

Date of birth: 1985, Address: Clearwater.

Date of alleged crime: Jan. 1-2, 2016.

Charges:

Count 1 — Criminal deprivation of motor vehicle, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 2 — Burglary of non dwelling, level 7 felony. 

Count 3 — Theft, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 4 — Theft, level 9 felony. 87

Case description: Mount is accused of stealing a black 2001 Ford F-150 and driving it from 216 S. 7th to 322 S. 7th in Conway Springs. She then is accused of going into a detached shop/garage and stealing black Oakley sunglasses, about 20 CDs, 25 shotgun shells, an orange backpack, a pair of hunting gloves, checkbook, blank checks and other items from a pickup that was parked in the shed.

Then on Feb. 2, 2016, after keeping the key from the black 2001 Ford F-150 pickup she allegedly stole on Jan 2, Mount allegedly used the key to obtain jumper cables, Nike backpack, five CDs, Polar King insulated jacket, a Smith and Wesson pocket knife and other items from the pickup.

State of Kansas v. John Jay Marks — Case No: 16 CR 342

Date of birth: 1952, Address: Wichita.

Date of alleged crime: Oct. 4, 2016.

Charges:

Count 1 — Theft, level 9 felony.

Count 2 — Driving while suspended, Class B misdemeanor.

Count 3 — Failure to provide proof of insurance, Class B misdemeanor.

Case description: Marks is accused of driving a white 2015 Chevrolet Suburban on the Kansas Turnpike when his driver’s license was suspended and he had no proof of insurance.

State of Kansas v. Jeffery Todd Blackburn — Case No: 16 CR 343

Date of birth: 1977, Address: San Jacinto, Texas.

Date of alleged crime: Oct. 26, 2016.

Charges:

Count 1 — Possession of methamphetamine, level 5 drug felony.

Count 2 — Possession of marijuana, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 3 — Battery against a law enforcement officer, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 4  — Interference with law enforcement officer, Class A misdemeanor.

Count 5 -— Interference with law enforcement officer, Class A misdemeanor.

Case description: Blackburn is accused of possessing methamphetamine and marijuana when apprehended by Wellington police officers. He allegedly flung his arm out and struck a WPD officer in the face with his elbow during the apprehension. He then allegedly resisted arrest and provided incorrect information when asked for his date of birth and the state for which the driver’s license was issued.

State of Kansas v. Amy Wood — Case No: 16 CR 344

Date of birth: 1983, Address: Wellington.

Date of alleged crime: Nov. 1, 2016.

Charges:

Count 1 — Possession narcotic, level 5 drug felony.

Count 2 — Possession drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor.

Case description: Wood is accused of having a Percocet pill in a green box in her purse when she was arrested for a parole violation.

Case verdict: Wood pled guilty to Count 2 which gave her a one-year probation.
