Sumner County Court Docket: March 6, 2013
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The following are a list of criminal court complaints recently filed by the Sumner County Attorney’s office.
These are formal charges introduced into the Sumner County District Court system. The suspects listed in the complaint have not been tried by a judge or jury. All citizens are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â

•Starkell Franks, born in 1987, of Wichita is charged with prostitution, a Class B Misdemeanor.
According to the complaint, Franks did unlawfully offer to perform for hire for $200 an act of sodomy from an undercover agent at the hotel at the Kansas Star Casino.
•Don James Sharpsteen, of Wellington was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 drug felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.
•Stetson Schmidt, born in 1993, of Belle Plaine is charged with possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor; defective taillights and no drivers license in possession.
•Christopher Scott Yoder, born in 1979; and Kami Etter, born in 1980 — both of Mayfield — were charged with domestic violence. a Class B misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor. Yoder is accused of pushing Etter and pouring a coke on her during an argument. Etter is accused of scratching Yoder’s face.
•Dalton Tyler Roth, born in 1994, of Belle Plaine; and Zach Kessel, born in 1994, of Belle Plaine — are charged with possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; conspiracy to distribute marijuana, a level 3 drug felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to the complaint, Roth and Kessel are accused of conspiring with purchasing marijuana in Haysville on Feb. 7 intending to share with friends in Belle Plaine. The complaint also states the conspirators invited friends, and offered to share their marijuana with a group of three people. The complaint said their marijuana was placed on the table around which they gathered.
Kessel is also charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by an underage adult, a Class C misdemeanor.
•Lurae Horse, born in 1962, of Caldwell is charged with domestic battery, a Class B misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor.
•Dustin Dwyer, born in 1990, of Wellington and Curtis Callaway, born in 1984, of Wellington are charged with burglary, a level 7 felony; theft, a class A misdemeanor; and criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor.
Dwyer and Callaway are accused of entering into a building at 1107 North B in Wellington owned by the Larry Stone estate without permission. They allegedly then took an E-machine computer, monitor, keyboard, and outside smoker all having a value of less than $1,000.
•Nicole Mitts, born in 1989, of Wellington is charged with aggravated assault, a level 7 felony; robbery, a level 5 felony; and obstructing official duty, a level 9 felony.
Mitts is accused of angrily approaching the victim with a knife within inches of his chest telling him to stay out of her argument with the victim’s son.
She then allegedly took a cell phone from the victim’s son when he tried calling the police. Mitt then allegedly resisted being arrested and taken to jail by putting her legs against the door so she couldn’t be taken to the car.
•Rachel Brewer, also known as Leeann Brewer, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 drug felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor; and felony obstruction, a level 9 felony.
During her first two charges, Brewer falsely claimed she was Leeann R. Brewer and was not Rachel L. Brewer when the deputy interviewed her.
