These are formal charges introduced into the Sumner County District Court system. The suspects listed in the complaint have not been tried by a judge or jury unless specified otherwise. All citizens are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

State of Kansas v. Dylan Hornecker — Case No: 16 CR 259.
Date of birth: 1986. Address: Wellington.
Date of alleged crime: July 25, 2016.
Charges:
Count 1 — Battery of correction officer, level 5 felony.
Count 2 — Aggravated Robbery, level 3 felony.
Count 3 — Interference with law enforcement, level 9 felony.
Case description: Hornecker is accused of grabbing a Sumner County Detention Officer who was passing out medication to him. He allegedly tried to steal the deputy’s pen. When the deputy asked for it back, he allegedly responded, “this is my pen now.†After the deputy seized back the pen, allegedly Hornecker then grabbed the deputy’s arm and drug him over the medication cart to the floor causing the detention officer to have a severe back injury.

Count 2 — Attempted aggravated escape, level 10 felony.
Count 3 — Robbery, level 5 felony.

Count 6 — Battery on county correction officer, level 5 felony.
Case description: Hornecker, who is currently in jail for allegedly stealing equipment from the Wellington Parks Department (see court docket here) http://www.sumnernewscow.com/sumner-court-docket-thursday-june-30-2016-report/, is accused of four felony charges of battery of a county correctional officer and attempting to escape the county jail.
Allegedly, Hornecker angrily grabbed a deputy while trying to get out of his cell. He was successful in getting out of his cell but not successful in escaping the jail. Allegedly, after he was apprehended, Hornecker grabbed the right arm of another deputy, who was holding a taser and was successful in making him lose possession of it. They started wrestling for the taser allegedly and the deputy was able to pick up the taser with the left hand as they continued to wrestle.
Hornecker then allegedly slapped another detention officer’s chest in an apparent effort to dislodge the officer’s glasses in his pocket and continued to physically attack him. He then is accused of kicking another detention officer on the right hand, who was coming to the aid of the detention officer with the glasses. He then allegedly kicked another detention officer.

Case description: Rhonomus is accused of having a marijuana pipe stuffed with unsmoked marijuana. She then allegedly pushed a relative, who called 911, and said “thanks for calling 911.†Another person then found more marijuana which was turned over to the Oxford Police Department at a later time.

Case description: Godown is accused of taking merchandise from Dollar General without paying for them.

Case description: Olivera is accused of using a marijuana pipe in the passenger seat of the car.

Count 5 — Possession drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor.
Case description: Kendall is accused of using false identification at Kansas Star Casino. When apprehended she allegedly had a small buggy containing methamphetamine inside a makeup bag under her pink jacket in the back seat of the rental car.

Case description: Smith is accused of driving a 2010 Acura motor vehicle bearing Arkansas tag when she was arrested on I-35 for car theft.

Case description: Rains is accused of having two marijuana pipes on the nightstand in his bedroom.

Case description: Lago is accused of entering a Chevy Silverado parked at 723 N. Jefferson in Wellington with the intent of committing a theft. Lego allegedly stole Charles Sisson’s wallet containing $95 in cash and credit cards, and used a Capitol One credit card to purchase cigarettes at Casey’s for $11.44.

Case description: Presto is accused of drinking vodka around a burn pit at 1123 S. Washington in Wellington.

Case description: Selenke is accused of making out a check for $310 on another person’s account at Vintage Bank in Conway Springs.

Case description: Wilson is accused of driving 44 mph in a 30 mph zone while having a small amount of marijuana inside a Marlboro box inside the glove compartment of her vehicle. She also allegedly had a marijuana pipe and roach clip.

Date of alleged crime: June 24, 2016.
Charges:
Count 1 — Furnishing Alcoholic Beverage to Minor, Class B misdemeanor.
Case description: Weber is accused of selling a bottle of Corona beer to someone who was 18 years of age at the Last Chance Bar in Caldwell.

Count 1 — Burglary of vehicle, level 9 felony.
Count 2 — Theft, level 9 felony.
Case description: Cabrera is accused of stealing a 9-inch RCA screen DVD player , TomTom GPS with black charger, headphones and other items out of another person’s 2001 Ford Excursion. Because Cabrera has two prior theft convictions, he is charged with theft instead of a misdemeanor for alleged stolen items valuing less than $1,000.

Count 1 — Possession drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor.
Case description: Keplar is accused of having a marijuana pipe inside a clear bag behind the driver’s seat in the vehicle he was driving.

Count 2 — Failure to signal lane change, traffic infraction.
Count 3 — Driving under the influence, Class B misdemeanor.
Count 4 — Possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor.
Count 5 — Possession marijuana, Class B misdemeanor.
Case description: Perez is accused of driving a 2009 Hyundai at mile post 32 while having a blood alcohol content of .08 or more and having a small black container under the driver’s seat.

Count 1 — Domestic Battery, Class B misdemeanor.
Count 2 — Disorderly Conduct, Class C misdemeanor.
Case description: Tompkins is accused of angrily slapping her boyfriend in the face during an argument as he was driving on U.S. 81, north of Wellington. She is accused of using fighting words that would provoke alarm of others.

Count 1 — Battery of County Correctional officer, level 5 felony.
Case description: Carter is accused of angrily kicking a Sumner County Jain Detention Deputy on her right hip as she was being transported to the jail.

Case description: Perez is accused of fighting with her boyfriend at 1485 N. Money Road in Mulvane.

Date of alleged crime: Sept. 10, 2016.
Charges:
Count 1 — Left of center, traffic infraction.
Count 2 — Speeding 83 in a 65 mph zone, traffic infraction.
Count 3 — Theft, level 9 felony.
Count 4 — Fleeing police officer, level 9 felony.
Count 5 — Driving Under the Influence, Class B misdemeanor.
Count 6 — Driving while revoked, Class B misdemeanor.
Case description: Bush is accused of driving a stolen 2010 black Ford Fusion on U.S. 160 at mile marker 302 left of center while going 83 in a 65 mph zone. The dependent then attempted to elude officers where he allegedly swerved into the wrong lane then went back across his lane into the grass while continuing to flee the trooper. After being apprehended, Bush allegedly had a blood alcohol content of .08 or more.

Date of alleged crime: Sept. 7, 2016.
Charges:
Count 1 — Theft, level 9 felony.
Count 2 — Possession marijuana, Class B misdemeanor.
Count 3 — Possession drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor.
Count 4 — Criminal possession of firearm by convicted felony, level 8 felony.
Case description: Castleberry is accused of being in possession of a stolen 2004 Hyundai at the Kansas Turnpike at the Belle Plaine Service area. When apprehended he was accused of having marijuana in two canisters inside the vehicle as a passenger. He then allegedly had a loaded .22 caliber pistol under the driver’s seat of the vehicle after being convicted of possession of cocaine in Aurora, Colo. on Oct. 10, 2016.

State of Kansas v. Michael Miller — Case No: 16 CR 284.

Date of alleged crime: Sept. 7, 2016.
Charges:
Count 1 — Driving under the influence, Class B misdemeanor.
Count 2 — Failure to maintain single lane, traffic infraction.
Count 3 — Failure to yield to emergency vehicle, traffic infraction.
Count 4 — Possession narcotic, level 5 drug felony.
Count 5 — Possession drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor.
Case description: Miller is accused of operating a motor vehicle on I-35 milepost 42 in Sumner County while under the influence of any drug or combination of drugs after he struck the center concrete divider about five times. He also allegedly had a syringe of morphine in his vehicle and said he had taken four or five Hydrocodone pills earlier in the day.

Count 4 — Endangering a child, Class A misdemeanor.
Case description: Shumrock is accused of driving a stolen 2004 Hyundai on I-35. She also had a canister of marijuana in the center console and in the passenger seat of the vehicle she was driving. Shumrock also allegedly had a 6-year-old child in the company of a convicted felon who could not legally possess a firearm.

State of Kansas v. Byron Machado — Case No: 16 CR 233.

Date of alleged crime: August 26, 2015.
Charges:
Count 1 — Criminal threat, level 9 felony.
Count 2 — Harassment by telecommunication device, Class A misdemeanor.
Case description: Machado is accused of sending multiple threatening messages to a Wellington person via Facebook Messenger.
Case outcome: Machado pled guilty to Count 2 – Harassment of telephone, a misdemeanor. He was sentenced to a 90-day controlling sentence and a $100 fine, court costs and attorney’s fees. He was then granted immediate probation for one year as long as he has no contact with the victim.
