Sumner County incumbents attract no challengers for 2016 election
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — While there will be heated Kansas state representative and senate races in 2016 in Sumner County, there will be no countywide races unless someone mounts a write-in campaign.
All 2016 Sumner County incumbents effectively won re-election today. Not one Sumner County challenger stepped up to the plate.
Here is who filed:
County Commissioner, 2nd District – Jim Newell.
County Attorney – Kerwin Spencer.
Register of Deeds – Jessica Anderson.
County Clerk – Debra Norris.
Sheriff – Darren Chambers.
Treasurer – Dannetta Cook.
There are few candidate races for township trustee including Avon, London, Sumner, and Wellington.
