Sumner County Wheat Plot tour: May 14 and 16 near Caldwell, Belle Plaine and Conway Springs
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Sumner County Wheat Plot Tours are set for May 14 and 16 by the Kansas State Extension Service. The wheat plot tour will give area farmers more information on what to expect with the 2013 wheat harvest.
The wheat plot tours will be held at three locations:Â
•Caldwell – Tuesday, May 14. Meals will begin at 6 p.m., sponsored by the Caldwell Co-op. The program will follow. The location of the plot from Caldwell, west of Bluff City Road, quarter mile north of tow, west side of road, south of the cemetery.
•Belle Plaine – Thursday, May 16. Meals at 12 p.m. at Hisken Ag Supply: 1459 E. 60th Ave. North, half mile east of Rock Road and East 60th North; southeast of Belle Plaine. Program to follow meal at plots, 1.5 miles east, three quarters miles south of Greenwich and East 60th Ave. north.
•Conway Springs – Thursday, May 16. Meals at 6 p.m., sponsored by the Farmers Co-op Grain Association of Conway Springs. Program to follow meal, located from Conway Springs, go sour on Highway 49 to 40th Street, North, 2.6 east. If increment weather, meal will be held at Gary Wolke’s, 911 W. 60th Ave. North, 1/2 mil west, two miles north and one west.
