Sumner-Cowley Electric Cooperative announces youth tour and leadership camp representatives

Lucas Pauly and Joslin Bartelson are Conway Springs juniors who will be attending Sumner-Cowley Electric Cooperative leadership events this summer.
Sumner Newscow report — Four Sumner County high school students have been selected to represent Sumner-Cowley Electric Cooperative, Inc. this summer at two youth-oriented leadership events.
Goran Djurovic of Wellington and Lucas Pauly of Conway Springs have been selected to the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to be held June 13-19 in Washington D.C.
Joslin Bartelson of Conway Springs and Rogan Wetta of Wellington have been selected to attend the Cooperative Youth Reminder Camp on July 10-16 in Steamboat Springs, Colo.
Eligible applicants were high school juniors whose parents or guardians are members of Sumner-Cowley Electric. These students were chosen through a competitive application process that evaluated their academic performance, leadership involvement, communication skills, and character.
Each applicant submitted their academic achievements and high school transcript, detailed their leadership experience in both school and community activities, and completed a written essay reflecting on leadership qualities. To further showcase their personalities and communication skills, students also submitted a short video presentation on a topic of their choice.
About the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour:
•Djurovic and Pauly will join students from the state of Kansas, as well as students from Hawaii and Maine, on the tour.
•Students will get to tour the city, visit historical museums and landmarks, and watch a performance at the Kennedy Center, among other activities.
•Students will also get to meet and visit with legislators to see how their decisions affect all of us.
About the Cooperative Leadership Camp:
•Bartelson and Wetta will join students from Kansas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Colorado.
•Students will get to hear from nationally recognized speakers, tour a power plant, learn about the cooperative business model, network, and participate in other fun activities.
