Boys: Wellington varsity 76 Mulvane 68
The Wellington boys got back on the winning track with a big Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div. IV win of the season. Wellington is now 1-1 in league and 3-2 for the season.
Sophomore Tanner Meyer continues to shine. He scored 23 points in the game, was sensational from the free throw line going 12 of 13, and hit the game’s big 3-pointer.
Mulvane was actually ahead by one when Wellington grabbed the lead on a Myer 3-pointer with about two minutes to play. Wellington then rattled ofd a slew of points to win by eight.
Wellington was actually down 21-5 at the end of the first quarter, but clawed its way back into the game before halftime. From that point forward it was a nip-and-tuck before the Crusaders’ final stretch.
“We made some adjustments and started boxing out,” Newman said. “I was really impressed by Grey Hatfield’s effort with his boxing out because he was able to take out two guys with him.”
Wellington finished the night with a much better field goal percentage than Tuesday’s disastrous game against Rose Hill. The Crusaders were 23 of 56 for a 41.1 field goal percentage and was 22 of 28 from the line for a 78.6 percent success rate.

Varsity girls: Wellington 51 Mulvane 20
After a trying game last Tuesday, Wellington came roaring back with an impressive 31-point win over Mulvane.
“We really challenged our girls on Wednesday at practice,” said Eric Adams, Wellington head girls basketball coach. “It wasn’t the win or loss versus Rose Hill on Tuesday night, it was the lack of any energy and passion to play. They know they represent our program and that means playing every game like it’s your last.”
Adams said the girls responded well against Mulvane.

Oxford head boys basketball coach Kyle Green said:
Attica is a very good ball club. Last week, when we played them within 10, that was a game where we played great defense and didn’t turn the ball over. Tonight, we played average D and turned the ball over, and turned it over for run out layups. Credit to Attica and Coach Hilton, their pressure gave us a lot of problems. That’s a team that is going to make some noise later on in the season. They have two guards that are a handful in Harnden and Miller, and some bangers in Goodman and McDaniel. One of the better teams we have played in the last several years.
