Sumner Newscow turns 2 today
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — On Aug. 28, 2011, Sumner Newscow officially launched its website with a story about an upcoming Caldwell quilt show.
Since then we have posted more than 3,500 stories, have had 153,532 unique visitors, and 3,149,224 hits not counting unavailable data taken during the first month of operation and a particularly bad week last October when the site wasn’t functioning correctly.
Today we celebrate our second anniversary, in the same way we do everyday, providing you with the latest in news, sports and community information.
Sumner Newscow wishes to thank our readers for making this website relevant. We strive to provide Sumner County with accurate, comprehensive local news information (and some Cueballism) provided to you in the tradition of the printed newspapers in the convenience of the digital age. We will never lose sight of the importance of having a local voice for Wellington and Sumner County long advocated by longtime Wellington Daily News newspaper guys like Harry Woods and Eddie Shaw.Â
We specifically want to thank the Sumner Newscow advertisers. For if it weren’t for them, this site would not be available free to the public. Please don’t forget to click on the various ads most for which will link you to their various home websites and/or specials.
Also, don’t forget to tip the cow. If you have news, or see news happening like the water tower falling on the roundabout, send us an e-mail at sumnernewscow@gmail.com or call us at 620-326-0717. This website is about you, for you.
Now I promise I’ll quit this self congratulation and get back to reporting the news. Go Crusaders.
