by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Tayland French, a 5-9, senior for the Wellington girls basketball team, has been named this week’s Big Cheese Athlete of the Week.

French had two big games helping Wellington beat Mulvane 57-33 and Clearwater 59-17. Against Mulvane, a week ago on Tuesday, she had 13 points, three assists and eight rebounds. Then on Saturday she had a double-double where she led the team with 16 points and had 10 rebounds. She was also 6 of 8 at the free throw line.

French is the first athlete to win the Big Cheese award twice. She also won during the volleyball season.
