TECT Aerospace edges GKN in annual Wellington Food Bank battle

Submitted to Sumner Newscow — To help benefit the Food Bank, TECT Aerospace and GKN once again went head to head in what has become an annual friendly competition to see which group could raise the most pounds of food/employee to be donated to the Food Bank.

After a two-week battle, TECT Aerospace edged out GKN by raising 47.65 pounds of food per employee to GKN’s 37.77 pounds of food per employee.

The Wellington Food Bank is the real winner however, as the equivalent of a total of 19,842 pounds of food was donated by the two companies through a combination of actual food donations and cash contributions.

TECT Aerospace employees contributed $1,818 dollars and 79 pounds of food; while GKN employees gave $1,588 in cash and 197 pounds of food.

These contributions were presented to the Wellington Food Bank in December by officials from both sites.  In addition, both the charitable units of both corporations have contributed to the Food Bank.  TECT Aerospace’s Glass Foundation contributed $3,825 and GKN’s Foundation contributed $7,500.
