TECT receives $20,000 damage from structure fire this morning
Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington Fire/EMS were dispatched to a reported structure fire at TECT Aerospace at 1515 North A Street this morning at 9:19 a.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a small amount of smoke coming from between the two buildings that are attached.
According to the Wellington Fire/EMS report, an interior team made entry and found heavy smoke and fire in an area of the building where there were offices and bathrooms. With the assistance of a fire sprinkler head, firefighters extinguished the fire quickly.
Fire District 9 in Belle Plaine assisted at the scene with Oxford and Mayfield firefighters on standby at their station.
The cause of the fire was electrical and spread from a bathroom vertically and horizontally into an upstairs office and adjoining bathroom.
Estimated damage loss was $20,000. There were 14 personnel on the scene with one ambulance, one pickup, two engines and one aerial.
There were no injuries.
