There is a lot going on for the Wellington Young Professionals organization

by Jessica Yunker, special to Sumner Newscow — Last weekend, the Wellington Young Professionals sponsored a Pub Crawl in Downtown Wellington.  There were over 65 participants and five local businesses. The businesses included Barefoot Jerry’s, Fabiola’s, The Dore, American Legion and Passtimes. Team Whiskey Business won the $100 Grand Prize.  Thank you to everyone who participated and to the downtown businesses, it was an overwhelming response for a first time event.

On Thursday, March 29, the WYP will be sponsoring another Throwback Thursday movie at the Wellington Regent as a fundraiser for the Wellington High School Business Professionals.  The chosen movie is “Mrs. Doubtfire” and it will start at 7:00 pm.  All seats are $5.  Proceeds will go toward their national competition trip in Dallas.

This Easter, let the WYP’s “EGG” Your House!  For $10 per dozen or $15 for 2 dozen, the WYP members will decorate your front yard with candy-filled eggs on Easter morning.  So far there are already 20 houses signed up, and 60 dozen eggs ordered!  To sign up or for more information, please email wellingtonksyp@gmail.com.

The Chisholm Trail second annual BBQ Cook Off will be held on April 27-28 in downtown Wellington.  We look forward to working with the Kansas City BBQ Society and the Sumner County Economic Development office for this fun, local event.

We have other ideas and events coming up this summer and during the Kansas Wheat Festival.  If you would like to join the Wellington Young Professionals, please send an email or message to the WYP Facebook page.  The next monthly meeting will be Thursday, April 5 over the noon hour at the No. 7 Coffeehouse (backroom).

We enjoy working with other groups and businesses in the community, so please contact us if you are interested in partnering with us for your community event.
