This weekend, take the Wellington Christmas light tour…
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — If you need an excuse to just get out of the house after a long day of Christmas revelry, may we suggest you go on a Christmas tour to look at the various residential and commercial light displays around Wellington.
Here are a few “can’t miss” Christmas decoration displays which include the winners of the residential and business Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Decoration Contest and some others mentioned by yours truly…
David and Jami Kuchar, 1612 N. Day…
The Kuchar house, nestled in the east Hargis Creek area in northeast Wellington, is always a must see. Winners of this year’s residential Chamber contest, the Kuchar nativity scene is hand-crafted and brightly lit with the sign “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” We especially like the light blue lights throughout the complex and the best lit Christmas wreath in Wellington above the garage.

Chris and Andrea Kreifels, 909 W. 16th…
This house, the second place residential winner, is without the most entertaining. Just park your car, turn off your headlights and tune in the radio station 88.5 and jam out to the Christmas light show choreographed to the music.

Bill Miller, 721 E. Lincoln…
Inflatables only work well in a Christmas display if there is a specific reason to have them in the display. This one works in the Christmas light extravaganza on E. Lincoln. Miller’s display won third in the residential contest…
Other displays…
These are other Chamber Christmas display participants…
909 W 16th St.Â
1107 N B St.Â
1600 N B St.Â
1924 N B St.Â
916 N PoplarÂ
524 E LincolnÂ
721 E LincolnÂ
1612 N Day.
Cueball’s honorable mention houses…
Here are few others which caught my eye.

I’m not big on projector lights which is not a good substitute for old fashioned Christmas lights. But if you are going to have one, make it into a show like this one on a side road in the  Wheatridge addition.

Not sure why this one isn’t in the top 3 of the Chamber display contest. It’s one of my favorites on E. Lincoln.

I like Christmas lights and a lot of them. This one is north of the U.S. Post Office in Wellington and one of my favorites.
BUSINESS CHRISTMAS DISPLAYS…
And let’s not forget the business display winners…
First place Barbara Jon’s…
Can’t argue with Barbara Jon’s as this year’s Chamber top place winner…
Second place – Sumner County Economic DevelopmentÂ
Third place – Mission Thrift Shop.Â
