Tomas Jimenez, 68, Wellington: July 7, 1947 – May 13, 2016
Tomas Jimenez, of Wellington, died Friday, May 13, 2016 at his home in Wellington at the age of 68.
Tomas was born the son of Carlos and Jesusita (Martinez) Jimenez on Monday, July 7, 1947 in Wellington.
Tomy was a member of the Bridge Gang at Burlington Northern Santa Fe and retired after a 25 year career. During that time he also owned and operated Tomy’s Bar, Bottoms Up, the Harvest House and others. Tomy enjoyed music and people which served him well as a local DJ at weddings and dances for many years.
Another passion of his was cooking and sharing his food with others. In his later years, he and his family developed Tomy’s Tijuana Taxi Food Truck. He looked forward to sharing that passion with others. Above all else, he was a family man and loved being a full time grandpa or “Paw Paw” to his grandkids. Tomy left an indelible mark on his community and family.
Survivors include his daughter, Shay Savoy of Olympia, Washington; son Shawn Jimenez; son, Jesus “Chuy” Jimenez both of Wellington, grandchildren: Oliver Frazier Savoy, Xavier and Lexi Jimenez and Tyler, Julian, Dominic, Lilliana and Nattiel Jimenez; sister, Maria Bansmer of Wellington; brother, Steve Jimenez (Helen) of Wellington; sister, Ramona Jiminez of Wellington; sister, Anita Avila (Billy) of San Jose, California; sister, Juanita Mistler (Roger) of Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Carmen Lindsey of Wellington along with a large extended family. Â
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Carlos “Chito” Jimenez and Cevero Jimenez and sisters: Margaret Perez, Nancy Arebalo and Teresa Flook.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will immediately be followed by the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at St. Anthony/St. Rose Catholic Church, Wellington.Â
