Udall beats Oxford 34-26 in a tale of two halves
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Oxford and Udall played a game where eight of the nine touchdowns were scored in the first half. In the end Udall would beat Oxford 34-26.
Udall held a 28-26 lead at the half in what looked as if both teams could have scored into the 50s. But the second half proved otherwise. Whether the coaches on both teams threw in some defensive wrinkles or the offenses just lost their effectiveness, only one touchdown was scored when Udall’s Loos scored on a 27-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give the Eagles an 8-point win.Â
In the first quarter, Udall would score first before Oxford’s Haskins went on a 75-yard touchdown kickoff return romp. The Eagles took the lead on a 6-yard TD run which was followed by a Norris 38-yard TD pass to Catlin.
In the second quarter the game looked about the same as the first. Udall would score two touchdowns and on Oxford’s side Haskin would get his second kickoff return for a touchdown and Norris would throw another touchdown pass to Catlin, good for 28 yards.
