USD 353 has delayed the start of school until August 24

Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington school district has delayed the start of the school announced by Wellington Superintendent Rick Weiss this morning.

The following press release by Weiss was released today:

“Due to issues associated with the USD 353 Construction Project at the district elementary schools, the start of school will be delayed until Monday, August 24.

This will mean that all classes Kindergarten through 12th grad will begin on Monday, August 24 at the regular time. Buses and all schedules will run at the regular times beginning on Monday.

Athletic practices at the Wellington Middle School and Wellington High School will operate as scheduled this week. Any other student activities or group meetings that are scheduled this week may be held according to sponsors.

We apologize for the inconvenience of this schedule change but the evolution of the construction events necessitates the alterations.

Thank You.”
