Viola Swaffer

Viola (Withrow) Swaffer died on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at her home in Haysville at the age of 83. She was born the third of seven daughters to Edward Lee and Viola Mary (McCalip) Withrow on March 23, 1938 in Cairo. On May 24, 1960, Viola and Billy Swaffer were united in marriage in Wellington and celebrated 61 years of marriage. They made their home in Haysville where Viola was employed at the Green Meadows Nursing Home for over 30 years. She was raised to keep her Christian faith and brought up her own family to do the same. Viola attended the Cornerstone Pentecostal Holiness Church in Wichita for over 40 years and has recently been attending the Harvest Church in Derby.

She kept herself involved in the nursery and women’s ministry at her churches. Viola has been a member of TOPS since 1977 and looked forward to the weekly meetings with her family and friends. Other interests of hers include playing cards and growing her collection of all things pigs. She had it all from stuffed animals to figurines and clothes. Above all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and looked forward to the holidays where she could be with her large extended family.
