It started out as a barn-burner. Wellington was the visitors on its home field and scored a run in the top of the first.

Haysville would get two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead. Wellington responded with two runs in the top of the third, but left the bases loaded.

After a scoreless four innings, Wellington would break the game open with seven runs in the top of the fifth and four runs in the sixth to win by run-rule 14-2.

Wesley Gilmore was the winning pitcher. He also received the MVP award in the game.

Jace Lowe and Grayson DeJarnett were recipients of the Wow award.

Wellington hopes to have a similar tournament like it had last year in Moundridge where he finished second in the 14-year-old Kansas State Tournament.
