Wellington boys tennis team places second on a windy Tuesday at Sellers
Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington boys tennis team placed second in the season-opening quad at Sellers Park on an extremely windy Tuesday afternoon.
Wellington generated a first, two seconds, a third, and a fourth. El Dorado won the four-team event with 17 points. Wellington placed second with 13. Goddard Eisenhower had 9 and Augusta 7.
Wellington’s No. 1 singles player, Maverick Peterson, won his category, going 3-0.
He defeated Kyler Enegren of Eisenhower 8-1, Reece Knight of El Dorado 8-3 and Dex Henderson of Augusta 8-4.
In No. 2 singles, Brodee Lough defeated Dalton Pankrats of Augusta 8-7 (7) and Tyler Huneycutt of G. Eisenhower 8-6, before losing to Delken Hall of El Dorado 8-6.
In No. 1 doubles, Camden White and Easton Lynnes, making their varsity debut, went 1-2 for the day. They defeated Kohls/Stamback of Augusta 8-4, before losing to Collier/Hanson of Eisenhower 8-7 (2) and Mays/Eck of El Dorado 8-3.
In No. 2 doubles, Trevan Hernandez and Gage Stewart were 2-1, defeating teammates Summers/Ledesma 8-3 and Eisenhower’s Kohls/Stamback 8-3, before losing to El Dorado’s Wilkinson/Mora Bruce 8-3.
Wellington has traveled to Pratt today while the junior varsity is in Circle.
