Submitted to Sumner Newscow — A spring program entitled “Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs” was held at Wellington Christian Academy on the evening of Tuesday, May 9. Directed by music teacher Jenni Kelley, fifth and sixth graders played their instruments in the band portion of the program, followed by third and fourth graders on recorders.
Grades K-6 sang a collection of beautiful worship songs. A chorus of 70 bells accompanied “How Great Thou Art.” Younger students sang “Jesus Loves Me” in English and Spanish, and the older students sang a moving rendition of “Waymaker” in both languages. A slideshow tribute to the school founders, Bill and Judy Meridith, followed.
Former and current teachers, staff, and students told the Meridiths just how much the school means to them and thanked them for all they have done. Bill and Judy, who were in attendance, received a standing ovation by the large crowd.
To close the program, students sang “First Things First.” WCA is excited to announce that the school is enrolling in all grade levels — preschool-8th grade — for the upcoming school year! Interested middle school families (students going into grades 5-8) are invited to attend a middle school open house at WCA Tuesday, May 16th at 6:30. If you are interested in more information or enrolling, please call the school at 620-326-5596, or email through the school website at www.wcacademy.com.
