A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, May 28 at 2 p.m at College Hill Park in Wichita. The family is asking everyone to wear a red shirt in honor of Mr. Jack at the service, who always wore red shirts on Fridays to honor the military.
Wellington City Manager Shane Shields told the city council at a work session Wednesday evening that the city reached out to both Winfield and Ark City municipalities and they have indicated they will be assisting in operations during the vacancy.
Also, Wes Bennett, a retired building inspector and who also still works with the city on the compost, has also said he will be assisting. Shields said the city will begin the job search for a full-time building official shortly.
