by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Opening night for the Wellington Community Theater production of the musical “Peter Pan” is set for Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Wellington High School auditorium. The play will also run on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

The production has been a year in the making for WCT and Children’s Theater. The production includes a cast of 50 and 30 backstage workers in what is considered one of the most extensive, elaborate production in WCT history. The musical will include flying scenes from ZFX Flying Effects (see story here). The play stars Hannah Shelley as Peter Pan. Brenna Brown will play Wendy and Robert Hobbs as the insufferable Captain Hook. The Peter Pan Musical is based on the novel by J.M. Barrie and the Broadway musical by Piers Chater Robinson, which starred Cathy Rigby.

The local production is under the direction of Bob and Michelle Brown.
