Wellington Fire Department fight two structure fires on Wednesday, neither causing significant damage
Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington Fire Department responded to two structure fires Wednesday.
The first fire was reported at 4:22 p.m. at 705 N. Jefferson. Upon arrival firefighters found two outdoor storage sheds on fire. The fire was under control by 4:30 p.m. with $5,000 loss to contents and sheds. Â
The second fire was reported at 11:29 p.m. at 113 West 18th St. While the firefighters were en route, they were told there may be possibly a person still inside the structure. Firefighters performed a primary search of the home but the occupant was not inside the house. The fire was contained to framing around a window and the home suffered smoke damage. Â
The content loss at the structure at West 18th was $3,500.
The cause of fire at Jefferson is unknown. The cause at W. 18th was ignitable mosquito repellant.
Agencies assisting with the two fires include: Wellington  Police, Sumner County Emergency Management, and the City of Wellington Electric.
