Walk a Mile Crusader Way students raise awareness against sexual assault, violence and sexism against women.

Sumner Newscow report — In an effort to raise awareness about sexism and discrimination, Karla Defore’s Crusader Way/Civics freshman students held the first annual Wellington “Walk A Mile In Their Shoes” event on May 14. The event was held on the Century Park walking path.

Wellington freshmen participated in the award-winning Walk A Mile In Her Shoes which is noted as the International men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence – which especially rings true concerning what is happening at Baylor University. Each year, participation increases with the number of men, women and their families raise awareness.

Here are pictures from Sumner Newscow photographer Amber Schmitz of the Wellington event. The full gallery can be found here.
