Wellington girls easily win setting up league championship showdown with Clearwater; boys lose
By Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Wellington basketball teams split their games in Rose Hill Tuesday in Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div. IV action.
Wellington girls dominated Rose Hill 65-21, while the boys lost 58-42.
Wellington’s Lyndi Barton scored 19 points and Kierstyn Gregory followed with 15 as the Crusaders had little trouble batting back its league foe. Barton had quite a game, getting 19 points, 10 rebounds, four defections, and two steals.
The Crusaders led 16-3 at the end of the first quarter before posting a 14-0 shutout in the second to lead 30-3 at the half.
Wellington continued its momentum with a 20-14 third-quarter output and was up 50-17 in the fourth for the victory.

The boys had a rough game last night. Part of the problem was they were battling sickness going in. Nolan Russell was out of the lineup due to sickness.
The Crusaders were chasing Rose Hill throughout. The Rockets opened a 19-8 first-quarter lead and were up 32-23 at the half. The Crusaders were within three 26-23 midway through the second before Rose Hill finished off the half with eight points.
