by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Get this. Wellington High School will be hosting a volleyball triangular, a girls tennis tournament, a high school football game and the annual cross country meet in a five-day span. Our sympathies go out to Wellington High School athletic director Brian Buchanan.

That doesn’t include the home freshman and junior varsity football and middle school tennis matches tonight.

Starting Tuesday, Wellington will be hosting a high school volleyball triangular and a quadrangular tennis tournament simultaneously. The Wellington High School and Middle School cross country teams kick off their season with a trip to Valley Center.

Thursday the Wellington Middle School football and volleyball teams will be traveling to Clearwater. The high school tennis team is in Circle while the middle school is home.

Friday is your usual slate of high school football games with Wellington hosting Concordia in the home opener at Sellers Park. It will also be youth football team.

Then if that was not enough, Wellington will be hosting the annual cross country meet at Hargis Creek featuring about 35 to 38 middle school and high school teams from the area on Saturday morning.
