Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington Humane Society Shelter Pet of the Week is Zander!

Zander is a 2-year-old Australian Shepherd mix weighing around 60 pounds. He came to us from a high-intake shelter where he was running out of time. WHS officials are so grateful they were able to give him the second chance he deserves—and now there’s hope someone will give him the forever home he’s been waiting for.

This handsome boy is young, full of life, and always ready for his next adventure! Recently, Zander joined us at an event in Belle Plaine, where he had a wonderful time meeting new people and showing off what a great companion he is. He loved all the attention and handled the outing like a champ.

Zander would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs, play, and burn off some of that Aussie energy. When playtime is over, he’s more than happy to settle in for cuddles with his favorite people. If you’re looking for a fun, loyal, and loving companion to share life’s adventures with, Zander just might be your perfect match. Stop by and meet him—you may find your new best friend.

The Humane Society is open Wednesday through Friday, 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you are interested in adoption, please complete the online application before you come in to speed up the adoption process. WHS goes in order of application received, so the sooner you get your application in, the better! And don’t forget, the Pet of the Week has a discounted adoption fee of $50 off dogs during their week! AND during the month of August, all dogs are $50 off! So, that means his adoption fee is only $50 during his week!
