Wellington JV and C teams beat Clearwater; Crusader volleyball team concludes regular season at home tonight

sports today fallby Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Wellington junior varsity and C team football teams both were winners Monday night. The Wellington volleyball play tonight for its last home matches of the season, and the eighth graders host Winfield to conclude their season.

 

Wellington JV and C team football:

Wellington Freshman had an exhausting football game winning in triple overtime over Clearwater, 26-24. The Wellington junior varsity then followed suit with a convincing 42-18 victory over Clearwater.

There were no details provided for these games. 

 

Wellington varsity volleyball: 

The Crusaders had a tough weekend in Clearwater going 0-3 for the weekend in the Clearwater Tournament. Wellington will hope to get momentum at home when the Crusaders host Andale and Buhler tonight. The Wellington-Buhler game starts at 5 p.m. with the Andale game following later in the evening.

This is also senior night as WHS seniors are recognized.

Wellington will learn of its regional seating for the Class 4A Division I Regional in Mulvane on Saturday. The Crusaders are paired with Mulvane, Rose Hill and Winfield. The event will be a single elimination in Mulvane on Saturday, Oct. 26. Regional tournament brackets will be released for all the schools by the Kansas State High School Activities Association on Wednesday.

 

Wellington eighth grade football: 

The Wellington Crusaders will make up its home football games with Winfield that was called because of bad weather on Tuesday at 5 p.m. The seventh grade got its game in with a win.

Both teams lost on Thursday to Arkansas City. We’ll try to get more details on those games on a future date.
