Wellington Lions Club need Toy Drive donations by Saturday
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Time is running out for the annual Wellington Noon Lions Club Toy Drive.
The Lions Club will be distributing toys on Saturday. Currently, the service organization is running behind last year. As of Thursday morning, the club has collected $6,000 in donations and toys. In 2015, the Lions Club spent $12,000 plus the toys that were donated.
There are 64 families and 180 children signed up for the program. Families normally apply through the CASA program. People can either make a cash donation, provide toy(s) themselves, or purchase personal household items.
“We do have a lot of requests for princess items and legos,” said Jane Cole, Lions Club member.
To donate call Jane Cole at 620-326-5500 or bring donations or toys to her office at 118 E. Harvey.
