Wellington Middle School to host community book fair Oct. 21-27
Submitted to Sumner Newscow — Students from Wellington Middle School will host a special Book Fair from Scholastic October 21-27, 2014 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to help raise funds to purchase new books for the school library. Fair attendees can also help build classroom libraries by purchasing books for teachers through the Teacher Wish List program.
The Book Fair will be open each day from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will feature a wide range of books for young teens and adults, including mystery and adventure novels, fantasy series, sports guides, graphic novels, and the latest bestsellers from more than 100 publishers. Parents/guardians, children, teachers, and the community are invited to attend.
WMS Leadership students, dubbed “The Crew†will help run the book fair. They will learn real-life skills like managing inventory and assisting shoppers with their selections while helping to make reading for pleasure a cool activity at their school. On Tuesday, Oct. 21 and Thursday, October 23 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Book Fair will feature Family Night, with each dollar spent by parents/guardians earning an entry into the Pizza for Parents drawing. Each teacher visited during Parent/Teacher Conference will also earn a drawing entry for this contest.
You may also want to shop online through November 6 to view more books than can be presented at the book fair. Visit http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/wmsknights and scroll to “Shop Onlineâ€. Anything ordered from the online fair will be delivered directly to WMS after November 6 with no shipping fee! You will then be notified of their arrival and can arrange for pick-up at your convenience.
