Wellington National Honor Society inducts 24 new members at Sunday’s ceremony

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Wellington High School held a National Honors Society program Sunday at the auditorium. Twenty-four new members were inducted.

Former Wellington High School Principal Dale Liston was the guest speaker. Liston served as principal through the 2000s retiring in 2012.

Liston, a former head football coach at Friends University, spoke to the students about the importance of setting realistic goals.

Those inducted to the National Honor Society were:

They will join current members: Mikala Bradbury, Skylar Brand, Jade Dry, Maggie Fink, Kindyl Krueger, Kierstan McCracken, Katie Pape, Julia Peck, Rebecca Pinkerton, Cajen Shore, Shayna Templeton, Connor Church, Parker Daugherty, Gracie Defore, Ben DeJarnett, Chase Easterly, Shelby Hamel, Andrew Horn, Avery Lewellen, Abbie McComb, Hunter Reynolds, Katie Rosenthal, Natasha Smith, Houston Sober and Holly Wright.

Luke Smith, NHS coordinator, was the emcee for the event. Julia Peck provided entertainment. Peck, Krueger, Defore, McCracken and Horn introduced the members.

To be part of the NHS a student must maintain a certain GPA and uphold a certain code of conduct.
