Wellington nature trail gets more of an uplift thanks to scouts, Triumph volunteers
Submitted to Sumner Newscow — Triumph Accessory Services and the Wellington Cub Scouts joined together for the club’s second annual Community Service Project.
With the assistance of the scout leader, Floyd Kabrueck, volunteers signed up to clear nature walking trails around the northwest portion of Wellington Lake.
As the number of Triumph volunteers increased to 26, more projects were added to the list. Â Some employees used chain saws and tree trimmers to clear several new trails while other employees created colorful signs to provide some guidance along these trails. Â
Adding to the nature trail experience, some employees built benches, so walkers can take a small break and enjoy the scenery.
Triumph employees also built a deck around the Scout’s flag pole, which enables the Cub Scouts to reach the flag to raise and lower it. Thanks to the donated utility poles. the creative thinking of the Scout leader, and a local saw mill, the workers were able to create benches around the fire pit. The final addition was two more picnic tables for the expanding number of Cub scouts.
“Working with Triumph volunteers put me ahead of schedule,” said Kabureck. “It was a 10 year project and we are almost done.â€
David Ferguson a volunteer from Triumph said:
“Working on these projects was a lot of fun. I hope the scouts enjoy these additions as much as we enjoyed putting it all together. “
