Victorious Aubrey Hunt at 190.
By Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Big Cheese Athlete of the Week is Aubrey Hunt, the Wellington senior now Class 4A state wrestling championship.
Hunt defeated Abby Brenn of Winfield 6-2 for the 190-pound championship in Salina. She capped an incredible season in which she went 37-3. This capped a three-year run in which she stepped on the wrestling mat for the first time as a sophomore before going becoming a state runner-up in 2023 as a junior and a state champion this year.
For her effort, Hunt is the recipient of a large delicious Big Cheese Pizza at 324 N. Washington.
