By Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Claire Ginter, a Wellington senior golfer, has been named the Big Cheese Athlete of the Week.

Ginter broke a school record on Monday at the Andale Invitational Tournament held at the Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney. She shot a 73 for a one-over-par and placed first individually among 82 golfers. She won the tie-breaker after beating Andover’s Reagan Doosenbery in a sudden-death playoff. Her round broke the Wellington High School individual record.

The score not only also helped Wellington win the varsity tournament with a 316, five strokes in front of 5A powerhouse Andover, but it also set the Wellington team record.

For her efforts, Ginter is the recipient of a large, delicious Big Cheese Pizza at 324 N. Washington.
