Wellington splits with Wichita Collegiate; Argonia girls barely get past Caldwell, and more…

Wellington vs. Wichita Collegiate

 

Varsity boys: Collegiate 59, Wellington 51

Wichita Collegiate used to have swagger. That was before the injury of Marcus Phox.

Wellington came a whisker from beating the Spartans which would have been the highlight of the season. Collegiate led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter. Collegiate made it 30-22 at the half. Wellington narrowed the margin to two in the third quarter with an 18-13 output.

Collegiate outscored Wellington 16-11 in the fourth quarter down the stretch to win 59-51. The Crusaders are 5-12 for the season.

Wellington girls rocked Collegiate like a hurricane Tuesday night. Wellington opened with a 19-7 first quarter lead and held a 38-13 advantage at the half in this rout. Kailey Jenkins had 14 while Avery Lewellen scored 13.
