By Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Wellington girls volleyball team has accomplished quite a bit over the years. The one thing the Crusaders haven’t done is win an Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div. IV title.

The Crusaders will host Andale tonight at 4:30 p.m. in Wellington for a chance at winning the league title. Both teams go into the match undefeated in league play as the first half of a triangular. The Crusaders will then play Rose Hill in the second match around 6:30 p.m.

A win here and Wellington will have clinched at least a tie for the league title (providing it takes care of Rose Hill later tonight). If it loses here, it won’t be the end of the world, but it will make it very difficult to win league. Wellington will play Andale again up there next Tuesday.

Wellington finished 3-2 in the Cheney Tournament last Saturday. The Crusaders defeated Haven 25-12, 25-19; defeated Collegiate 25-19, 25-11; lost to Cheney 25-15, 25-16; defeated Pratt 21-25, 15-18, 25-20; and lost to Hesston 25-21, 25-17.

The Crusaders are currently 15-7. Wellington has either lost to Class 6A and 5A opponents or ranked opponents this season. The Crusaders are currently four weeks from sub-state so positioning is getting more important.
